chovné centrum zubrů založené roku 1921 Dietlofem von Arnim-Boitzenburg
- pruským šlechticem a politikem, zakladatelem a dlouholetým
viceprezidentem Mezinárodní společnosti na ochranu a záchranu zubrů (Gesellschaft
zur Rettung und Erhaltung des Wisents). Kromě zubrů zde bylo i několik
dravých ptáků (orel mořský, orel křiklavý a orlovec říční). Zařízení
existovalo do roku 1945, kdy byli zubři (na konci 2. světové války)
bezohledně vystříleni a majetek znárodněn. Poslední zubr "Boitzi"
zahynul 24. prosince 1946 během transportu do Berlínské zoo. Potomci
zubrů z Boitzenburgu jsou dodnes ve Springe.
breeding centre of wisents founded in 1921 by Dietlof von
Arnim-Boitzenburg - a Prussian nobleman and politician, founder and
long-time vice president of the International Society for the Protection
and Rescue of wisents (Gesellschaft zur Rettung und Erhaltung des
Wisents). In addition of the wisents, there were also several birds of
prey (white-tailed eagle, lesser-spotted eagle and osprey). The facility
existed until 1945, when wisents were ruthlessly shot out and the
property nationalized. The last wisent "Boitzi" died 24th December 1946
during the transport to the Berlin Zoo. The offspring of the Boitzenburg
wisents are still in Springe.
