jakýsi předchůdce a vlastně i součastník Stralsundské zoo - v
roce 1928 stralsundský učitel Frido Schmidt založil spolek Tiergarten
Stralsund (Tiergartenverein Stralsund) a potažmo výběhy jelenů a srnců v
centru města u Küterbastion před Kütertor (1929). Ty byly zdarma
přístupné veřejnosti a sloužily až do války. 8. března 1944 byly
zrušeny.
Po válce byly snahy zvěřinec obnovit, ale problém byl v tom, že původní
prostor u Küterbastion byl malý a bez šance na rozšíření. Nakonec bylo
tedy rozhodnuto, že zde vznikne jen bažantnice a obora s výběhy bude na
okraji města. Stavbou bažantnice a o pár týdnů nebo měsíců později i
obory byl (1959) pověřen Hartmut Olejnik (pozdější ředitel Tierparku
Stralsund). Ta dvě zařízení měla fungovat více méně dohromady -
bažantnice měla být jakási maličká zoo, s tím, že bude mít velká zvířata
(divočáky) mimo vlastní areál ve výběhu v neoploceném areálu na kraji
města. Jenže již v dalším roce vše vzalo jiný vývoj. V oboře přibyli
jeleni, lišky a vlci a záhy se sama začala měnit na pozdější Tierpark
(současnou zoo).
Bažantnice, byla otevřena 1959 u příležitosti tzv. Baltského týdne (Ostseewoche)
- tehdy to byly jen 4 voliéry bažantů a okrasných ptáků a jedna klec s
makakem rhesus. V následujícím roce (1960) byla bažantnice dokončena.
Roku 1962 bylo přistavěno ještě terárium a postupně přibývaly další
klece a výběhy (např. pro vodní ptáky). 1989 byl celý areál kompletně
zrekonstruován, ovšem již 4 roky na to musela být bažantnice zrušena,
kvůli opakovaným problémům s vandaly (poničení, krádeže). Dnes je na
místě bývalé bažantnice dětské hřiště.

enclosures of red and roe deer in the city center at Küterbastion in
front of Kütertor (1929). These were public accessible for free and
served until the war. It was abolished 8th March 1944.
After the war, there was an efforts to restore the menagerie, but the
problem was that the original place at Küterbastion was small and
without chance for an expansion. Finally, it was decided that a
pheasantry only will arise here and a game park with enclosures will be
on outskirt of the city.
Hartmut Olejnik (later director of Tierpark Stralsund) was commissioned
by construction of the Pheasantry and also the Game park a couple weeks
or months later (1959). The two facilities should work more or less
together - the pheasantry should be some kind of tiny zoo, that will
have large animals (wild boars) out of main area in enclosure in an
unfenced area on the outskirt of the city. But already next year,
everything took a different development. The game park welcomed deer,
foxes and wolves, and soon it began to change to future Tierpark
(current zoo).
The Pheasantry, was opened in 1959 on the occasion of so-called Baltic
Week (Ostseewoche) - at that time it were only 4 aviaries of pheasants
and ornamental birds and one cage with rhesus macaque. In the following
year (1960), the pheasantry was completed. 1962, terrarium was built
additional and other cages and enclosures (eg. for waterfowl) was
gradually added. In 1989, the whole area was completely renovated,
however already 4 years later, the pheasantry had to be abolished, due
to repeated problems with vandalism (damage, theft). Today, a children's
playground is in the place of former pheasantry. |
