11.07.1971 The opening of the
exposition of the Marine Department of Klaipėda Museum of Regional
Ethnography at 14, H. Manto Street.
1973–1979 Restoration of Nerija fort, the construction of the
buildings for aquariums, equipment of the aquariums and pools, and the
creation of the exposition.
01.10.1975 Klaipėda Sea Museum founded.
11.04.1975 The first sea expedition aboard the medium trawler the
Kalvarija, the large refrigerating trawler the M.K. Čiurlionis, etc. to
the Central East Atlantic.
30.12.1977 Acquisition of the first living exhibits, rockhopper
penguins.
01.11.1978 Tomas, the first grey seal, was given a new home in
the pool..
28.07.1979 The opening of the Lithuanian Sea Museum and the
Aquarium in the former Nerija fort.
11.1982 The founders of the Lithuanian Sea Museum: A. Žalys, A.
Každailis, P. Lapė, L. Šliogerienė, E. Buivydas, A. Stankevičius, A.
Aukštuolis, R. Lapinskas and R. Vasiliauskas were awarded the State
Prize of the Lithuanian SSR.
1982-1984 The construction of pools for sea mammals.
09.07.1982 Bocmanas, the North sea lion, arrived to the
Lithuanian Sea Museum from Moscow.
1984-1987 The construction of the performance grounds for the
shows given by North sea lions.
10.04.1986 The medium trawler the Dubingiai taken shore and
displayed on the grounds of the old fishing vessels.
08.03.1987 The first baby grey seal Magdutė born.
01.09.1988 The exposition of the department of the Curonian Spit
nature opened.
28.06.1989 The first floating exhibit of the Lithuanian Sea
Museum, a kurėnas sailing boat, launched into the Curonian Lagoon.
03.04.1987 The construction of the Dolphinarium started.
1987-1994 The construction of the compressor house, the pump
house for the Baltic Sea water, and water treatment installations.
1989-1992 The stands for spectators built at the performance
grounds.
21.04.1991 The first Magellanic penguin chicks, Jūris, Akis and
Magis, hatched.
18.05.1992 The first name-giving ceremony for baby penguins and
seals held.
21.09.1993 The first dolphins brought by plane from Sevastopol.
30.04.1994 The opening ceremony of the Dolphinarium.
1997 The Lithuanian Sea Museum granted the status of a national
museum.
11–12.1997 An expedition to Tahiti.
09.1998 Glorija and Gabija, the dolphin cows, gave birth to their
calves.
03.02.2000 The reconstruction of the marine fauna exposition
started.
2000–2001 A kurėnas, the sailing boat of the Curonian Lagoon,
built.
09.2000 The restoration of the medium trawler the Dubingiai
commenced.
28.07.2001 The medium trawler the Dubingiai opened for visitors.
21.05.2002 The start of The Return of the Kurėnas, an
ethnocultural project.
2002 The start of individual sessions of communication with
dolphins.
20.07.2002 An exposition of historic boats equipped in the yard
of Nerija fort.
22.05.2003 Sturgeons once again put into the central pool of the
Sea Museum.
07.2004 The reconstruction of the marine fauna exposition.
07, 08.2005 The dolphins Gabija and Premija gave birth to their
young.
08.2005 The expedition of the kurėnas ‘Sail Amsterdam 2005’.
